This is from a neighbor: it gives directions to nearest gas station, etc. BUT THE ROM DATABASE CANNOT BE UPDATED! Definitely surpassed by GPS now.
IF I want to re-use the 14 segment LCD, it looks *possible* since it's a ribbon cable. But is it soldered or glued?

LCD degradation

LCDs seem to fail when the liquid evaporates, usually starting at the edges.
